For parents who want to worry less and play more!

What we’re doing here

Welcome to PlayIsTheWork.com! We’re setting out on an adventure and we’re glad you have joined us. This blog grows out of the experiences my husband Johnny and I have had as parents of four-year-old twins and as entrepreneurs launching a multi-media production company focused on creating enriching entertainment for the whole child. We’ve talked to an awful lot of parents, and so many conversations left us wanting to keep the conversation going. You can read more about our point-of-view here, but right now I want to tell you more about the blog and what we’re going to be talking about.

We have quite a few friends and neighbors lined up to write for the blog, to share their own stories, theories, frustrations and dreams. Our contributors will have a lot to say on the following topics:

  • Read This!: An FYI on current trends and hot topics that make good reads for us parents.
  • Slacker or Sensible?: Call me a “slacker mom” if you must, but I don’t want to stress out my kids! Nobody here cares whether your pre-schooler knows the ABC’s. :)
  • Ways to Play: Play may be the work of children, but here’s a swap meet of ideas on how parents can facilitate fun with their kids anywhere – anytime!
  • Am I Crazy?: I’m not the only one stretched-to-the-max, trying to balance school, playdates and soccer, all while subsisting on organic trail mix and baby carrots…right?
  • Real Life: The good, the bad and the ugly stories of parenting.
  • School Time: Since everyone has a theory about education, this is a forum to discuss the pros and cons of each.
  • Guilt and Getting Over It: A chronicle of our parenting sins…
  • Research: What are the experts saying about parenting today? And, more importantly, do we believe it?
  • Families: They come in all shapes and sizes…what makes your family tick?
  • You Bought What?: Because not even we can believe the lengths we go to!
  • My Cute Kids: No seriously…let me tell you why these tiny people are my pride and joy.
  • The Urban Parent: A place for motherly (and fatherly!) tales of the city.

Thanks for visiting–please come back often!

  1. I just gave my baby nephew the DVD and he loves it! I’ve never seen him react so much to a video before! Braincandy has helped out my sister and her husband so much.
