I’ve often said that my children’s generation and those just before them are likely to be the most knowledgeable, educated group of kids we’ve seen in decades. With most of them starting school at 2 or 3 years old, what they know by the time they start kindergarten is really staggering. I think back to my own kindergarten days that were still filled mainly with play. But there is a great divide in our culture between the wealthy and the poor in this respect with the families that fall in the middle particularly squeezed. I came across this article “Preschoolers bear brunt of income struggles” that I thought was particularly good at summing up the issues. There are also really good pointers to child care resources at the end of the article.
