I wanted to share this article I just read about TV viewing habits. As a mother of two 6 year olds who have mainly watched videos, not broadcast TV, we seem to be experiencing a pull toward the tube of late. And I struggle to control it’s use, content and time. Apparently I’m not the only one. As part of the census results from over 9,000 people, they concluded that:
“In the TV viewing realm, about 67 percent of children 3 to 5 had limits on what shows they could watch, when they could watch and how long they could watch in 2003, up from only 54 percent in 1994.”
I’ve concluded, television isn’t bad, like everything else it can be a learning tool or a mindless exercise. It’s up to us to help our children navigate that field.
The results of the study are interesting and also include results from a study on the National School Lunch program.
